STEEL
Steel sheets and steel profiles made from S235JR, DC01 or DX51D+Z
Proven, affordable and versatile – steel
Steel is one of the most important materials for construction, workshop use, metalworking, production and technical applications. Thanks to its easy machinability, elasticity, high load-bearing capacity in different profile shapes and attractive price, steel is the ideal material for both large constructions and custom projects. Bridges, gates, halls, frames, ramps, supporting structures and many other applications would be hard to imagine without steel sheets and steel profiles.
Steel is also a strong choice in terms of sustainability and economy. The material can be recycled again and again with comparatively low energy input, without losing quality.
However, corrosion remains the biggest disadvantage of conventional steel. Raw steel without a protective coating can rust. At the same time, the growing demand for Corten steel shows that the appearance of rusted steel can also be an attractive design feature.
Our steel range – sheets cut to size
Thinner smooth steel sheets up to 2.0 mm thickness are available in DC01, material number 1.0330, formerly known as St12. This is a cold-rolled steel with excellent forming properties. It is also suitable for demanding shapes, such as bodywork parts made by deep drawing. The cut sheets are supplied lightly oiled.
Sheets from 3.0 mm upwards are made from S235JR, material number 1.0038, formerly known as St37. This is an unalloyed hot-rolled structural steel with the characteristic dark mill scale surface. This oxide layer can vary in colour and may have an irregular appearance.
Galvanised sheets are available up to 3.0 mm thickness in DX51D+Z, cold-rolled and not oiled. This material, with material number 1.0226, formerly known as St02 Z, is a relatively soft, unalloyed and cold-rolled steel with a zinc coating that reduces corrosion. It is very suitable for cold forming.
Galvanised perforated sheets are available with Rv5-8 round perforation and Qg10-15 square perforation. The base material is galvanised sheet steel made from DX51D+Z, into which the holes are punched afterwards. For this reason, corrosion protection is limited around the punched holes and cut edges.
For manhole covers, ramps, platforms and similar applications, we also offer raw steel checker plates in 3 mm and 4 mm thickness made from S235JR.
Steel bars and steel profiles
Please note that the following profiles are made from simple hot-rolled S235JR structural steel. The rolling process causes certain dimensional variations, all of which remain within the relevant standards, such as EN 10048, EN 10055, EN 10056, EN 10058, EN 10059, EN 10060, EN 10279 and DIN 59200. For seam-welded tubes, for example, wall thickness tolerances can be +0 / -10%. These are not precision profiles.
Flat steel: here you can buy flat steel from 20x3 mm up to 200x20 mm. These products are also commonly called flat bar, flat iron or flat steel strip. Technically speaking, the term flat steel is usually used from a material thickness of about 5 mm. At a width above 150 mm, it is referred to as wide flat steel. The thinner profiles in our range are, strictly speaking, steel strip.
Steel T-profile: you can also order steel T-profiles cut to your required length with a tolerance of +/- 2 mm. Our T-profile, also called T-iron, has rounded edges and transitions. We offer both equal-sided T-profiles according to DIN EN 10055 / DIN 1024, with dimensions from 20x20x3 mm to 140x140x15 mm, and wide-base T-profiles according to DIN EN 1024 (TB) from 40x20x4.5 mm to 120x60x10 mm. This wide-flange special profile also has rounded edges.
Steel U-profile: here you will find standard steel U-profiles. In these steel profiles, the inner surfaces of the flanges are inclined, while the edges and transitions are rounded. These are standard U-profiles, also known as UNP or UPN, according to DIN 1026-1, which we cut to size for you with a cutting tolerance of +/- 2 mm. Available dimensions range from 30x15x4 mm to 200x75x8.5 mm.
Angle steel: angle profiles and L-profiles according to DIN EN 10056-1. You can order equal-sided L-profiles, according to the old DIN 1028, or unequal-sided angle steel, according to DIN 1029. Available dimensions range from 20x20x3 mm to 150x150x12 mm. Simply configure the length in our steel online shop.
Solid material with a round cross-section is also called round steel bar. We offer round steel from 6 mm to 100 mm diameter. You can also buy solid material with a square cross-section. This square steel bar, also called solid square profile or square iron, is available in dimensions from 6x6 mm to 100x100 mm.
For seam-welded round steel tubes and square steel tubes, sheet metal is rolled or bent and then welded along the joint. You can buy the following round steel tubes from us: tubes according to EN 10255 are relatively thick-walled so that a thread can be cut onto them for pipe installations. However, the tubes available from us are supplied without thread. Handrail tubes or structural tubes according to EN 10220 have a smaller wall thickness. You can also order square tubes with a square cross-section, according to EN 10219, or rectangular tubes according to EN 10305-5, available in many dimensions in our online shop.
By the way: if you collect the goods yourself, you can also buy full lengths of our steel profiles, meaning 6-metre lengths.
I need a very specific profile!
No problem. In addition to a selection of rolled finished profiles, we also offer a special service: We can bend L-, C-, U-, hat-, Z-, or Z-shaped profiles with a back bend up to 4 mm in material thickness, exactly according to your specifications – with no minimum order quantity! You can configure the profiles precisely with just a few clicks. You can immediately see the final price, add the profiles to your shopping cart, and have them conveniently delivered to your home.
Can you also cut mitres?
Yes, that is possible. We can cut profiles up to around 100 mm diameter with a 45° mitre. Please send us an enquiry including the material, the required angle, ideally with a sketch, and the quantity. Since we calculate this service based on the required effort, the unit price becomes more attractive when you order more cuts.
Custom constructions
We are also happy to build custom constructions according to your specifications, such as railings, stairs, ramps, tanks, brackets, supports or other special parts. Send us an enquiry and we will work out together how to realise your project in the best possible way.
