This structural steel sheet can be used for all heavy-duty structures; it is easily weldable using all processes and, of course, is magnetic. Due to its low price and ease of processing, steel checkered plate has countless applications in mechanical engineering, industry, agriculture, architecture, for the construction of supporting structures, staircases, gate systems, or balconies, in plant engineering, and much more.
The approximately 1 mm deep embossing makes the sheets extremely slip-resistant – even when wet, oily, muddy, or otherwise dirty. Checkered plates, or teardrop plates, are therefore often used for structures that must be safe to access under all conditions, such as work platforms, walkways, amusement rides, festival floats, sales trailers, or tractors.
The sheets are easily accessible and are therefore also often used as supports for access ramps, for example, in workshops or for bridges.
With material thicknesses of 3 mm and 4 mm, a load-bearing substructure is often unnecessary, which is why these sheets have been used for decades as manhole covers for pump, inspection, or cable shafts.
S235JR refers to a typical base steel for mechanical engineering or steel construction. The sheets are hot-rolled and therefore have scale on the surface. To protect against corrosion, a surface coating in the form of paints, waxes, oils, powder coatings, or electroplating is required. Note:
You will receive sharp-edged material. Cut pieces are not deburred. Please remember to wear appropriate protective clothing and gloves.
This is how we cut your sheets
Cutting method: Sheets up to and including 10 mm thick are cut on our hydraulic guillotine shears . We have a partner cut sheets in 12 mm, 15 mm and 20 mm thickness using a laser - this naturally increases the delivery time.
Distortion: When cut with guillotine shears, smaller sheets will twist slightly. Narrow sheet strips in particular will not lie completely flat on a completely flat surface.
Laser-cut sheet metal parts can also deform slightly due to the heat input ( heat distortion ). We cannot prevent or correct warping!
Scratches: Due to general handling, both sides of the sheet will have scratches. The scratches can also be deep. When cutting with guillotine shears, your sheet may have circular marks from the sheet hold-down device on the shears.
Production marks are unfortunately unavoidable, standard practice and therefore do not constitute grounds for complaint.
On request: Drilling according to sketch
We can also drill holes into your configured workpiece*.
Please select the number of holes from the menu. Shortly after your purchase is completed, we will automatically send an email requesting a sketch. Subject: "Drill holes for your order: AU ....., Order number: .....".
Be sure to read the PDF document attached to the email!
Then simply send us your sketch as a reply to this email. We need to be able to clearly identify the position of the hole center(s) and the hole diameter .
Without this sketch, your order cannot be started!
* Holes are circular. Slotted holes, countersinks, or rectangular holes are not possible!
The possible bore diameter depends on the material thickness:
Material thickness up to 1.25 mm: 5 mm, 5.5 mm, 6 mm, 6.5 mm, 7 mm, 7.5 mm, 8 mm Ø,
Material thickness from 1.5 to 2.5 mm: 5 mm, 5.5 mm, 6 mm, 6.5 mm, 7 mm, 7.5 mm, 8 mm, 8.5 mm, 9 mm, 9.5 mm, 10 mm, 12 mm Ø,
Material thickness from 3 mm: 5 mm, 5.5 mm, 6 mm, 6.5 mm, 7 mm, 7.5 mm, 8 mm, 8.5 mm, 9 mm, 9.5 mm, 10 mm, 12 mm, 13 mm, 14 mm, 15 mm, 16 mm, 17 mm, 18 mm, 19 mm, 20 mm Ø.
On request: hot-dip galvanized (+ approx. 14 working days delivery time!)
Please note: For hot-dip galvanizing, the workpiece, sheet or profile must be suspended from one or two hooks.
To do this, we need to drill one or two holes (ø 6 mm) close to the edge if there is no other way to hang it.
First, we cut your product from the raw material. Then, we perform any necessary or desired additional work (such as deburring, rounding, drilling, edging, and welding). The workpiece is then degreased and pickled before being placed in the zinc bath.
Therefore, hot-dip galvanized components are always labor-intensive custom-made products! Returns are not possible.
Due to these numerous preparatory steps by hand and the hot-dip galvanizing by an external partner, the delivery time increases by approximately 14 working days.
The suspension hooks or wires may leave visible marks on the galvanization.
Thank you for your understanding!
On request: Priority processing
If you need it particularly quickly, we offer priority processing for an additional charge. This means: If
we receive your prepaid order Monday through Thursday , it will be completed and shipped within 24 hours. The priority option (subject to an additional charge) must be selected for all items in the shopping cart; otherwise, the order will not receive priority processing! This service is not available for all items. If your order exceeds our material or personnel resources, we will contact you immediately to find a solution together. Please feel free to contact us
if you have any further questions !
PRIORITY in combination with "post-galvanizing" is not possible!
