Rough Sheet / Steel Sheet 3 mm (with Scale) – Order Cost-Effectively from the Specialist
Steel sheet with a thickness of 3 mm is ready to use directly in mechanical engineering, steel construction, and the entire construction sector. The rough sheet is often used for building housings, sturdy covers, or as a design element in interior architecture.
Steel sheet 3 mm is well weldable with all processes and naturally magnetic. Therefore, the steel plate is indispensable not only in the automotive or railway industry but is also used widely here:
- in mechanical engineering
- in shipbuilding
- bridge construction
- in vehicle construction
- in agriculture
- architecture
- furniture construction
- in the pipe and profile industry
- in the enameling, barrel, and construction industry
- for building housings, cabinets, and much more
S235JR is a typical base steel for the entire construction sector and industry. Steel sheet / black sheet offers very good weldability and formability combined with good strength. Before welding, however, the scale layer should be removed at the corresponding areas of the rough sheet panels or steel sheet 3 mm cuttings.
The name black sheet derives from the fact that it is hot rolled at temperatures between 720 - 1260 degrees Celsius. At this temperature, a dark oxide layer, the scale, forms. Another term for black sheet is scaled sheet. The matte surface of steel sheet 3 mm with scale shimmers in different colors (blue, violet, red) depending on the viewing angle.
Rough Sheet / Steel Sheet 3 mm – Configure dimensions freely, check price, and order online directly.
Order your steel sheet 3 mm cut to size here online and without much effort. Enter the desired dimensions of the sheet cut in the configurator and find out immediately what your sheet costs. You can buy conveniently at the push of a button.
At Metallparadies, besides steel sheet in 3 mm, you can of course also order all other common thicknesses as cuttings in any quantities. You will receive our 3 mm hot-rolled steel sheet with scale.
Other available sheet thicknesses in the rough sheet range are 4 mm, 5 mm, 6 mm, 8 mm, 10 mm, 12 mm, 15 mm and 20 mm.
Thinner thicknesses below 3 mm (thin sheets) are available in the DC01 alloy in different thicknesses. Both types of sheets quickly develop surface rust when exposed to air. For corrosion protection, coating in the form of paints, waxes, oils, powder coatings, or electroplating processes is necessary.

How We Cut Your Sheets
Cutting Method: Sheets up to and including 10 mm thickness are cut on our hydraulic plate shears. Sheets with 12 mm, 15 mm, and 20 mm thickness are cut by a partner using laser – this naturally increases the delivery time.
Distortion: Sheets cut by plate shears may slightly twist, meaning they may warp. Especially narrow sheet strips will not lie completely flat on a perfectly even surface.
Also, laser-cut sheet parts can slightly deform due to heat input (heat distortion). Distortion cannot be prevented nor corrected by us!
Scratches: Both sides of the sheet will have scratches from general handling. Scratches can also be deep. When cutting on a plate shear, your sheet may show circular imprints from the sheet clamp of the shear.
Production marks are unfortunately unavoidable, customary, and therefore do not constitute grounds for complaint.
By the way: Have you heard of "Baking Steel"?
In short: Pizza stones are yesterday, today we use 6 mm steel sheet! In our blog post >>From Steel to Baking Steel – How to Make Your Baked Goods a Hit<< you will find all the essential information about the baking steel trend.
On Request: Drilling According to Your Sketch
We can also add drillings* to your configured workpiece.
Please select the number of drillings in the menu. Shortly after completing your purchase, we will automatically send an email requesting a sketch, subject: "Drillings for your order: AU ....., order number: .....".
Please be sure to read the PDF document attached to the email!
Simply reply to this email with your sketch. We must be able to clearly identify the
position of the drilling center(s) and the
drill diameter.
Without this sketch, your order cannot be processed!
* Drillings are circular. Slots, countersinks, or rectangular drillings are not possible!
The possible
drill diameter depends on the material thickness:
Material thickness up to 1.25 mm: 5 mm, 5.5 mm, 6 mm, 6.5 mm, 7 mm, 7.5 mm, 8 mm Ø,
Material thickness from 1.5 to 2.5 mm: 5 mm, 5.5 mm, 6 mm, 6.5 mm, 7 mm, 7.5 mm, 8 mm, 8.5 mm, 9 mm, 9.5 mm, 10 mm, 12 mm Ø,
Material thickness from 3 mm: 5 mm, 5.5 mm, 6 mm, 6.5 mm, 7 mm, 7.5 mm, 8 mm, 8.5 mm, 9 mm, 9.5 mm, 10 mm, 12 mm, 13 mm, 14 mm, 15 mm, 16 mm, 17 mm, 18 mm, 19 mm, 20 mm Ø.
On Request: Priority Processing
If things have to go especially fast, we offer prioritized processing of your order for an additional fee. This means:
If we receive your prepaid order
Monday to Thursday, it will be completed within 24 hours and shipped. The priority option must be selected for
all items in your cart; otherwise, the order will not be processed preferentially!
This service is not available for all items. If your order exceeds our material or personnel resources, we will contact you immediately to find a solution together. For further questions, please
contact us!
Note: Priority processing is only possible up to 10 mm material thickness!
Notes:
Non-deburred material is sharp-edged. Please wear suitable protective clothing and gloves!
We recommend having the sheets deburred – you can select this affordable additional service on the right in the dropdown menu.
