Structural Steel Plate 15 mm (with Mill Scale) – Order Cost-Effectively from the Specialist
Steel sheet with a thickness of 15 mm is ready for use in mechanical engineering, steel construction, and the entire construction sector. Due to its high own weight (weight per m² for 15 mm thickness: 120 kg), this structural plate is often used as a base and for example as sculpture stands, table supports, microphone stands, or as light/speaker stands in the construction of housings, sturdy covers, or as design elements in interior architecture.
The 15 mm steel sheet is well weldable by all common welding processes and, of course, magnetic. Thus, the steel plate is indispensable not only in construction and interior design but also finds versatile applications here:
• in mechanical engineering
• in shipbuilding
• bridge construction
• vehicle construction
• agriculture
• furniture manufacturing
• pipe and profile industry
• enamel, barrel, and construction industries
• for building housings, cabinets and much more
S235JR is a typical base steel for the entire construction sector and industry. Steel sheet / black sheet features very good weldability combined with good strength. Before welding, however, the mill scale must be removed from the corresponding areas of the structural plate or steel sheet 8 mm cuttings.
The name "black sheet" originates from the fact that it is hot-rolled at temperatures between 720 - 1260 °C. At this temperature, a dark oxide layer forms — the mill scale. Another name for black sheet is "mill-scaled sheet". The matt surface of 15 mm steel sheet with mill scale shimmers in different colours depending on the viewing angle (blue, violet, red).
Structural Steel Sheet 8 mm – Configure Dimensions, Check Price and Order Online
Order your 15 mm steel sheet custom-sized online here easily and without hassle. Enter the desired dimensions of the sheet cutting in the configurator and find out immediately what your plate costs. You buy conveniently at the push of a button. At Metallparadies, besides 15 mm steel sheet, you can of course also order all other common thicknesses as cuttings in any quantity.
You will receive our 15 mm hot-rolled steel sheet with mill scale.
Other available sheet thicknesses in the structural plate range are
3 mm,
4 mm,
5 mm,
6 mm,
8 mm,
10 mm,
12 mm,
15 mm and
20 mm.
Thinner sheets below 3 mm thickness (fine sheets) are available in the DC01 alloy in various thicknesses.
Both sheet types will quickly develop surface rust when exposed to air. For protection against corrosion, coatings such as paints, waxes, oils, powder coatings, or electroplating processes are necessary.

How We Cut Your Sheets
Cutting method: Sheets up to and including 10 mm thickness are cut using our hydraulic plate shears. Sheets of 12 mm, 15 mm, and 20 mm thickness are laser cut by a partner company — this naturally increases delivery time.
Warping: Cutting with plate shears can cause smaller sheets to slightly twist (torsion). Particularly narrow strips may not lie completely flat on an absolutely level surface.
Laser-cut parts can also deform slightly due to heat input (thermal distortion). Warping cannot be prevented or corrected by us!
Scratches: Both sides of the sheet will have scratches from handling. Scratches can also be deep. Cutting with a plate shear can cause circular impressions from the shear's hold-down clamp.
Production marks are unavoidable, usual in trade, and therefore not a reason for complaint.
By the way, have you heard of "Baking Steel"?
Simply put: pizza stones are outdated, today we use 6 mm steel sheet! In our blog post

On Request: Holes According to Your Sketch
Holes can also be drilled in your customised workpiece*.
Please select the number of holes in the menu. Shortly after your order confirmation, you will receive an
automatic email requesting a sketch, titled: "Holes for your order: AU ....., Order number: .....".
Please read the attached PDF document carefully!
Then simply reply to this email with your sketch. We must be able to clearly identify the
position of the hole centre(s) and the
hole diameter.
Without this sketch, your order cannot be started!
* Holes are circular only. Slots, countersinks or rectangular holes are not possible!
The possible
hole diameter depends on material thickness:
Material thickness up to 1.25 mm: 5 mm, 5.5 mm, 6 mm, 6.5 mm, 7 mm, 7.5 mm, 8 mm Ø,
Material thickness from 1.5 to 2.5 mm: 5 mm, 5.5 mm, 6 mm, 6.5 mm, 7 mm, 7.5 mm, 8 mm, 8.5 mm, 9 mm, 9.5 mm, 10 mm, 12 mm Ø,
Material thickness from 3 mm: 5 mm, 5.5 mm, 6 mm, 6.5 mm, 7 mm, 7.5 mm, 8 mm, 8.5 mm, 9 mm, 9.5 mm, 10 mm, 12 mm, 13 mm, 14 mm, 15 mm, 16 mm, 17 mm, 18 mm, 19 mm, 20 mm Ø.
On Request: Priority Processing
If things need to be done particularly quickly, we offer priority processing for an additional charge. That means:
If we receive your prepaid order
Monday to Thursday, it will be completed and shipped within 24 hours. In the shopping cart, the chargeable priority option must be selected for
all items; otherwise, the order will not be prioritised!
This service is not available for all items. If your order exceeds our material or personnel capacity, we will contact you immediately to find a joint solution. For further questions, please
