Order heavy plate / steel sheet 12 mm (with scale) cost-effectively from a specialist
12 mm thick sheet steel is ready for use in mechanical engineering, steel construction and the entire construction sector. Due to its high weight (weight per m² for 12 mm thickness: 96 kg), the heavy plate is often used as a base and is used, for example, as a sculpture stand, table tripod, microphone stand or as a light/speaker stand for the construction of housings, stable covers or as a design element in interior design.
12 mm sheet steel is easy to weld using all processes and is naturally magnetic. This means that the steel plate has become indispensable not only in the construction sector and interior design, but also has a wide variety of uses here:
• in mechanical engineering
• in shipbuilding
• bridge construction
• in vehicle construction
• in agriculture
• furniture construction
• in the pipe and profile industry
• in the enamelling, barrel and construction industries
• for the construction of housings, cabinets and much more
S235JR is a typical basic steel for the entire construction sector and industry. Steel sheet / black plate exhibits excellent weldability combined with good strength. However, before welding, the scale layer should be removed from the relevant areas of the heavy plate panels or blanks made of 12 mm steel sheet.
The name "black plate" comes from the fact that it is hot-rolled at temperatures between 720 and 1260 degrees Celsius. At this temperature, a dark oxide layer, the scale, forms. Another name for black plate is scaled sheet. The matte surface of 12 mm steel sheet with scale shimmers in different colors (blue, violet, red) depending on the viewing angle.
Heavy plate / steel sheet 12 mm – freely configure dimensions, check price and order directly online
Order your 12 mm custom-made steel sheet online and hassle-free. Enter the desired dimensions of the sheet metal cut into the configurator and find out immediately how much your sheet will cost. You can conveniently purchase at the touch of a button. At Metallparadies, you can order not only 12 mm steel sheet, but also all other common thicknesses as cut-to-size sheets in any quantity.
You can receive our 12 mm steel sheet hot-rolled with scale.
Other available sheet thicknesses in the heavy plate range are 3 mm , 4 mm , 5 mm , 6 mm , 8 mm , 10 mm , 12 mm , 15 mm and 20 mm .
We offer thinner thicknesses below 3 mm (thin sheets) in various thicknesses in the DC01 alloy.
Both types of sheet are susceptible to flash rust when exposed to air. To protect against corrosion, a coating in the form of paints, waxes, oils, powder coatings, or electroplating is required.

This is how we cut your sheets
Cutting method: Sheets up to and including 10 mm thick are cut on our hydraulic guillotine shears . We have a partner cut sheets in 12 mm, 15 mm and 20 mm thickness using a laser - this naturally increases the delivery time.
Distortion: When cut with guillotine shears, smaller sheets will twist slightly. Narrow sheet strips in particular will not lie completely flat on a completely flat surface.
Laser-cut sheet metal parts can also deform slightly due to the heat input ( heat distortion ). We cannot prevent or correct warping!
Scratches: Due to general handling, both sides of the sheet will have scratches. The scratches can also be deep. When cutting with guillotine shears, your sheet may have circular marks from the sheet hold-down device on the shears.
Production marks are unfortunately unavoidable, standard practice and therefore do not constitute grounds for complaint.
By the way: Do you already know “baking steel”?
In short: pizza stones are a thing of the past; today we're using 6 mm sheet steel! In our blog post >>From steel to baking steel - how to make your baked goods a hit<< you'll find everything you need to know about the trending topic of baking steel.
On request: Drilling according to sketch
We can also drill holes into your configured workpiece*.
Please select the number of holes from the menu. Shortly after your purchase is completed, we will automatically send an email requesting a sketch. Subject: "Drill holes for your order: AU ....., Order number: .....".
Be sure to read the PDF document attached to the email!
Then simply send us your sketch as a reply to this email. We need to be able to clearly identify the position of the hole center(s) and the hole diameter .
Without this sketch, your order cannot be started!
* Holes are circular. Slotted holes, countersinks, or rectangular holes are not possible!
The possible hole diameter depends on the material thickness:
Material thickness up to 1.25 mm: 5 mm, 5.5 mm, 6 mm, 6.5 mm, 7 mm, 7.5 mm, 8 mm Ø,
Material thickness from 1.5 to 2.5 mm: 5 mm, 5.5 mm, 6 mm, 6.5 mm, 7 mm, 7.5 mm, 8 mm, 8.5 mm, 9 mm, 9.5 mm, 10 mm, 12 mm Ø,
Material thickness from 3 mm: 5 mm, 5.5 mm, 6 mm, 6.5 mm, 7 mm, 7.5 mm, 8 mm, 8.5 mm, 9 mm, 9.5 mm, 10 mm, 12 mm, 13 mm, 14 mm, 15 mm, 16 mm, 17 mm, 18 mm, 19 mm, 20 mm Ø. Note:
Non-deburred material has sharp edges. Please remember to wear appropriate protective clothing and gloves!
We recommend having the sheets deburred—you can select this inexpensive additional service from the dropdown menu on the right.
